Pima Cotton
Andean silk
4,000 Years of Textile History
In the north of Peru, in the Piura Valley, grows one of the rarest fibers in the world.
Long before the Inca Empire, civilizations were already cultivating cotton on the Peruvian coasts. Archaeological excavations have revealed fragments of fabrics 4,000 years old, proving that Peru did not discover textiles. It invented them.
Pima cotton (Gossypium barbadense) is the direct heir to this tradition. Cultivated for millennia in the arid valleys of Piura, irrigated by waters flowing down from the Andes, harvested by hand, flower by flower. A know-how passed down from generation to generation, intact.
Piura. Nowhere else.
Peruvian Pima cotton accounts for less than 3% of global cotton production. That figure says it all.
The Piura Valley offers unique climatic conditions: intense sunshine, controlled humidity, and deep alluvial soils. It is this combination, and this alone, that allows Pima cotton to develop extra-long fibers, 30 to 40 mm, compared to 20 to 29 mm for standard cotton.
The longer the fiber, the denser, softer, and more resistant the fabric.
Science confirms what Peruvians have always known.
An extraordinary fiber.
Fiber length: 30 to 40 mm
Fineness: 3 to 4 microns
Strength: 92 to 100 Presley
Brilliant natural white, no chemical treatment
Hypoallergenic, natural thermal regulator
A cotton not chosen just for what it is. But for what it becomes: a garment that softens with time, retains its shape, and lasts.
From earth to textile.
Our partners in Piura cultivate and weave without compromise.
No pesticides. No chemical fertilizers. Sustainable farming, passed down through generations, respectful of the land that nourishes it. Pima cotton is harvested by hand, sorted flower by flower, spun into yarn before being woven into fine fabric. Each step is documented, controlled, and certified. BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) and GOTS certified.
One commitment: to give you the best.
